ARTIST STATEMENT

For me stone holds the truth of the earth. It imparts energy, with tactile fluency and I feel its history and sense it's essence. My sculptures are a mirror for my internal explorations of my spiritual connections. Carving is the language that I have been given with which I communicate from my heart the mystery and magic of life's journey. Stone is a composite of all the elements: fire, earth, air and water - a totality of all matter. When I carve I feel connected to the earth and a universal consciousness.

I am a board member of The Memoria Project, and I created an educational program around the carving of the monuments that consisted of 37 different programs about sculpture.

I feel strongly about keeping public school art programs alive. I have volunteered to bring introductory workshops into gifted programs and I have coached art teachers to do the same.
